Peter Obi clears air on alleged meeting with Trump, MC Oluomo

0

Former presidential candidate has described as fake, images making the rounds suggesting he had meeting with the US President Donald Trump and MC Oluomo.

The still pictures have been circulating on social media with Obidients claiming that Trump has endorsed Obi ahead of 2027.

However, Obi in a statement on Wednesday said that both pictures are fake.

He said, “My attention has been drawn to some pictures currently circulating on social media, falsely portraying meetings I never had. One of such images purports to show me with US President Donald Trump, alongside a fabricated claim that he praised me. Another seeks to depict me with MC Oluomo in his office.

“Let me state categorically that both pictures are fake and doctored, and the accompanying stories are entirely false. I have not met Mr Trump recently, nor have I had any such meeting with MC Oluomo.

“These fabrications highlight the persistent dangers of fake news and disinformation in our society. They are not only misleading but deliberately designed to confuse, misguide, and distract the public.

“Nigerians and the international community must remain vigilant, verify information before sharing, and resist the culture of propaganda that undermines truth and integrity.

“For the avoidance of doubt, if I had such meetings, I would have personally made them public on my X handle. My politics has never been about seeking praise or cheap publicity; it is about confronting the real problems of Nigeria and working towards solutions grounded in integrity, accountability, and transparency.

“My politics is strictly focused on addressing the plight of the suffering Nigerians, by tackling insecurity, rule of law, education, healthcare, and pulling millions out of poverty”.

MC Oluomo

Strong indications emerged on Tuesday that the imbroglio between the embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan,  PDP, Kogi Central and the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, is coming to an end as the Sergeant at Arms of the National Assembly, along with combined personnel of security organisations, have  unsealed her 205 office of the Senate wing.

NCoS foils drug smuggling attempt at Kuje Custodial Centre

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has foiled an attempt to smuggle substances suspected to be psychoactive drugs into the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Command Public Relations Officer (CPRO), FCT Command, Mr Samson Duza, made this known in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Duza said that at about 12:45  on Saturday, a man identified as Njimogu Ikedi attempted to visit an inmate while concealing items suspected to be cannabis sativa and other psychoactive substances in his clothing.

He said that the contraband was uncovered during a routine search by personnel on duty.

He quoted the Controller of Corrections in charge of the FCT Command, Mr Christopher Jen, as ordering the suspect’s apprehension.

Jen also directed immediate handover of the suspect to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.

He, however, warned visitors with ulterior motives to desist from such acts, assuring that the Service’s vigilant personnel would continue to uncover their machinations.

The controller also urged members of the public and well-meaning Nigerians to support the NCoS in its efforts towards reforming and rehabilitating offenders to foster public safety.

Nan reports that this incident followed a similar case in July 2024 , when a woman, was apprehended for attempting to smuggle suspected psychoactive substances into the same facility.
