The Israeli military has announced the arrest of a senior member of the Jamaa Islamiya terrorist organization during an overnight operation in the Har Dov area.
In a statement posted on X on Monday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the suspect was apprehended in a targeted, intelligence-led operation carried out by its troops.
The military said the arrested individual was taken into Israel for further interrogation, adding that weapons were also recovered at the scene of the operation.
According to the IDF, Jamaa Islamiya has been involved in carrying out attacks against Israel and civilians in the northern part of the country since the outbreak of the ongoing conflict.
“APPREHENDED: A senior terrorist from the Jamaa Islamiya terrorist organization was apprehended overnight by IDF troops during a targeted intelligence-based operation in the Har Dov area,” the statement read.
“The terrorist was transferred for further questioning in Israel. Weapons were also located at the site. Throughout the war, the Jamaa Islamiya terrorist organization advanced terror attacks against Israel and its civilians in the north.”
