Veteran Yoruba actor and cultural icon, Lere Paimo, popularly known as Eda Onile Ola, has dismissed rumours circulating on social media claiming he had passed away.
Speaking in a telephone interview on Saturday, Paimo assured the public that he is healthy and very much alive at his home in Ibadan.
“I am not dead; I am alive and in my home in Ibadan. I thank you for reaching out to me. The death rumour is the imagination of bad people, and that death wish will be their portion,” he said.
The false report of his death had gone viral earlier on X (formerly Twitter), prompting widespread concern among fans and colleagues.
Before Paimo’s personal clarification, the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) had already issued a statement countering the rumour and urging the public to disregard the misinformation.
