Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has debunked a viral video circulating on social media, stating that she only posts on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In a public alert, Okonjo-Iweala warned Nigerians to be cautious of a fake, AI-manipulated video that falsely features her image. She stressed that the video is not authentic and urged members of the public to remain vigilant to avoid being deceived.
According to her, the matter has already been reported and is being addressed by the appropriate authorities.
“Just alerting Nigerians. Another fake AI-manipulated video. The authorities are handling it. Just wanted to alert you to be aware of this,” she said.
The former Minister of Finance further reiterated that she does not run accounts on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, or WhatsApp, warning that any content bearing her image on those platforms is fraudulent.
“As I repeatedly said, I never post anything on Instagram, Facebook, or WhatsApp. Anything emanating from these sources with my image is not from me. I only post on Twitter/X. I
