He lost re-election the moment Ganduje raised his hands—Kwankwaso vows to frustrate Abba Yusuf after defection to APC

The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has declared that Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will not secure a second term in office following his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, made the assertion in an interview with BBC Hausa while reacting to Yusuf’s decision to dump the NNPP for the ruling party.

According to him, the governor effectively lost his reelection bid the moment former APC National Chairman and ex-Kano governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, publicly raised his hand in support.

Kwankwaso described Yusuf’s defection as a betrayal and warned that the governor would regret the move.

“We never expected this kind of betrayal from Governor Abba. He will regret his decision,” Kwankwaso said.

He added, “The moment Ganduje raises his hand, he has already lost the election. Let him first claim that we did not allow him to govern; we will respond accordingly.”
