Arsenal defeated Chelsea 2-1 at Emirates to be five points ahead of Manchester City.
The Gunners went into the clash aware that Manchester City had trimmed their advantage to two points following a 1-0 win at Leeds on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta’s side made a bright start and broke the deadlock when William Saliba’s header deflected in off Mamadou Sarr.
Chelsea responded before halftime, drawing level through a Piero Hincapie own goal to send the teams into the break at 1-1.
However, Jurrien Timber rose highest in the second half to nod home what proved to be the decisive goal, lifting Arsenal to 64 points with nine fixtures remaining in the campaign.
