Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that Bernardo Silva remains a major injury concern ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield.
The Portuguese midfielder featured in City’s 3–1 victory over Newcastle United in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, but his availability for the weekend remains uncertain.
Speaking on Silva’s condition, Guardiola revealed that the player is eager to play but is still struggling with a muscle issue.
“Yesterday he said to me, ‘I feel quite good. I want to try, but I don’t know,” Guardiola said. “It’s another type of muscle in the hamstring area, less dangerous than the hamstring itself. We will see in the next days.
“To say he ‘could be OK’ is not the right description. He’s a huge doubt. Knowing him, he will try, but right now, I honestly don’t know.”
City will make a late decision on Silva as they prepare for the high-stakes encounter against the reigning champions.
