A young woman was allegedly killed on Monday inside Bekay Pharmacy at the Total Roundabout in Nsukka, Enugu State, after a man identified as Emma Nwagwu reportedly attacked her during a confrontation over allegations of infidelity.
According to claims made by on-air personality Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, Nwagwu stormed into the pharmacy where the woman was receiving treatment and accused her of being romantically involved with another man, said to be a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) serving in the Nsukka area. Ugwuanyi alleged that the DPO was waiting outside in his vehicle at the time.
Witnesses reported that the situation escalated when Nwagwu allegedly slammed the woman’s head against a wall, causing her to collapse. She was said to have died instantly. An enraged crowd reportedly attempted to mob the suspect, but security operatives stepped in to prevent further violence.
Ugwuanyi also alleged that Nwagwu later attempted to confront the DPO, prompting the officer to draw his service pistol before bystanders intervened to separate both men.
The suspect was subsequently taken into custody at the Nsukka Police Area Command. Community sources claim he is a well-known political operative who has worked with successive administrations in Nsukka Local Government.
As of Tuesday morning, the Enugu State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
Ugwuanyi, in his post, described the suspect as “notorious” and accused him of killing the woman inside the pharmacy during the heated confrontation.
