The Enugu State Government has ordered the shutdown of KC Gaming Networks, operators of the Bet9ja brand, over alleged persistent violations of the Enugu State Gaming and Lottery Law.
The enforcement action was carried out by the Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission following a court order issued by the High Court of Enugu State.
DAILY POST reports that the court, in a suit marked 6/54/2025 between the Enugu State Gaming and Lottery Commission and KC Gaming Networks, authorized the commission to seal the betting firm’s operations across the state.
Speaking to journalists after the exercise, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prince Arinze Arum, said the shutdown followed repeated failed attempts by the state government to ensure the company’s compliance with regulatory requirements.
According to Arum, the commission had engaged KC Gaming Networks on several occasions over alleged infractions and regulatory breaches, but the company reportedly failed to respond positively.
“We are here to enforce compliance with the Enugu State Gaming and Lottery Law. Over time, we have had several communications with KC Gaming Networks concerning their infractions and regulatory breaches,” he said.
Arum disclosed that the operator allegedly ignored multiple warnings and administrative notices, particularly regarding license revalidation, outstanding fees, and other statutory obligations.
He added that the action represents a total shutdown of Bet9ja’s operations within Enugu State.
