Dangote Refinery cuts petrol price to outcompete importers

Dangote Refinery has reduced the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) by N25 per liter, lowering it from N799 to N774 in a move aimed at strengthening its competitiveness against fuel importers.

The 650,000-barrels-per-day facility announced the price adjustment in a notice issued to petroleum marketers on Tuesday.

“This is to notify you of a change in our PMS gantry price from N799 per liter to N774 per liter,” the refinery stated.

The company also informed marketers that its petrol lifting bonus scheme has ended. According to the notice, the incentive stopped at 12:00 a.m. on February 10, 2026, while credits for volumes lifted between February 2 and February 10, within previously agreed thresholds, will be reflected in marketers’ account statements.

Despite the reduction, Dangote’s gantry price of N774 per liter remains below the ex-depot prices of some competitors. Data from petroleumpriceng.com show that depot owners such as Eterna and MENJ are selling at about N790 per liter.

The latest price cut comes as the cost of imported petrol continues to fall. Figures from the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria indicate that imported PMS averaged N721.80 per liter as of last Friday.

Meanwhile, pump prices across Abuja have remained high, with retail petrol selling for between N839 and N905 per liter.
