BREAKING: Nigerian bank on fire in Abuja

The headquarters of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) in Abuja has been gutted by a fire outbreak.

The fire reportedly started on the fourth floor of the building, with thick smoke seen billowing from the premises.

Speaking with Nigerian Newssphere, Abubakar Audi, a staff member of Zenith Bank operating within the FMBN building, described the blaze as intense, saying efforts to contain it were yet to yield results.

According to him, operatives of the Federal Fire Service had deployed about four fire trucks to the scene but were struggling to bring the inferno under control.

“Yes, the fire is so intense. About four trucks of the Fire Service are here, but they are unable to quench it,” Audi said.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire had yet to be determined, while there was no official confirmation of any casualties or the extent of damage caused by the incident.
