2027 Presidential election running mate of Atiku Abubakar and Former Minister of Transportation, ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has lost his mother, Mary Amaechi, who died at the age of 89.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by Amaechi’s Media Office on Thursday.
According to the statement, the family matriarch passed away peacefully on Thursday.
The statement described the late Mary Amaechi as a devoted Christian and respected community leader who dedicated her life to promoting peace, unity and selfless service.
It noted that she was a cherished matriarch who kept her family united through love, peace and harmony, while also serving as a women’s leader in her community and a Christian leader whose faith in God remained steadfast throughout her life.
“Late Mrs Mary Amaechi was a cherished matriarch who held her family together in love, peace and unity. She was a community women’s leader and Christian leader, whose beliefs and faith in God were firm and resolute,” the statement read.
The family said details of her funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
It also expressed appreciation to friends, supporters and well-wishers for their prayers and condolences during the period of mourning.
