The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a surprise victory over the Labour Party (LP) in the polling unit of former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the ongoing Anambra governorship election.
Official results announced around 3 p.m. at Polling Unit 019, Agulu Ward 11, in Anaocha Local Government Area, showed the APC candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, leading with 73 votes.
The Labour Party candidate, George Moghalu, trailed with 57 votes, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) finished third with 38 votes.
Peter Obi, who voted earlier at the same polling unit, had vigorously campaigned for his party ahead of the election.
This development is notable as Obi enjoyed overwhelming support in Anambra during the 2023 presidential election, where he secured more than 95% of the votes in the state.
