The Minister of the Federal Capital (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has been named by the All Progressives Congress, APC, as a party’s campaign council member for the November Bayelsa governorship election.
Wike, a former Rivers State governor, was recently sworn in as a minister by President Bola Tinubu and has resigned as a member of the Peoples Democratic PDP.
He fell out with the PDP in the lead-up to the February 25 presidential election.
However, APC named Wike a council member when it set up campaign councils for the Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo governorship polls billed for later in the year.
A circular from the ruling APC listed Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State as the chairman of the party’s governorship campaign council in Bayelsa with Defence Minister Abubakar Badaru; Senate President Godsdwill Akpabio and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume as co-chairmen.
