Arsenal beat West Ham to move five points ahead of Man City

Arsenal strengthened their Premier League title charge with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday at the London Stadium.

The Gunners went into the encounter aware that Manchester City had earlier thrashed Brentford 3-0 to keep pressure on the title race.

Despite dominating possession for much of the first half, Mikel Arteta’s side struggled to convert their chances, while West Ham also threatened on the counterattack.

Arsenal eventually found the breakthrough in the second half when captain Martin Odegaard drove into the penalty area before setting up Leandro Trossard, who calmly fired home the decisive goal.

There was late tension for the visitors after West Ham believed they had grabbed an equalizer through Calum Wilson, but the effort was ruled out following a foul on Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

The result moves Arsenal five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table as the title race intensifies.
