AEDC confirms blackout in Abuja

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has confirmed that the ongoing blackout across several parts of Abuja is due to maintenance work being carried out by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

In a notice issued on Monday, AEDC explained that TCN is currently conducting scheduled maintenance at the Katampe Transmission Substation between December 1 and 2, 2025, resulting in the interruption of bulk power supply to multiple communities.

According to the company, the outage has affected areas including Bwari, Living Faith Church, Dutse Makaranta, Dutse Bokma, Military Pension Board, Jigo Community, Peyi Community, Ushafa, War College Quarters, Sabongari, Law School, and GSS Dutse.

Others impacted are the Customary Court area, parts of Jahi, Kado Fish Market, sections of Lifecamp, Karmo, parts of Idu, Total Marbles, Airy Gas, D&T, Sabon Wuse, Dikko, Ministry of Works and Housing, Mabuchi Village, VIO, Back of AT4, and Kubwa.

Additional affected locations include Extension, Chikakore Community, Dantata Estate, Lita Farms, Royal Champion Church, Jiwa, Saburi 182, Kaduna Road, Zuba, Dakwa, Federal Housing Estate Zuba, Tungan Maje, Dutse Alhaji, Sokale, and surrounding areas.

“This maintenance exercise is part of ongoing efforts to improve service reliability and enhance power supply to your community,” AEDC stated.

Nigerian Newssphere reports that parts of Abuja have remained without electricity since Saturday, November 30, 2025.
