Aba Power announces weeklong outage

Nigeria’s electricity distribution company, Aba Power, has announced week-long electricity outage across its franchise in Abia State.

The electricity disruptions are expected to take place between the 21st and 28th of 2025, a statement by Aba Power said on Tuesday.

According to the Disco, the electricity disruption is due to its primary power provider, the Geometric Power Aba Limited (GPAL) planned maintenance of gas supplier infrastructure.

Consequently, the disco would, within the period, rely on supply from national grid.

“Dear Valued Customer, We have just been informed by our primary power provider, Geometric Power Aba Limited (GPAL), of critical infrastructure maintenance by their gas supplier, which will impact GPAL’s ability to generate and supply power from 21 August to 28 August 2025.

“During this period, we will rely mainly on power imports from the national grid to serve our customers.

“While grid supply may be limited, we assure you that we will do our best to ensure that all stakeholders are duly serviced.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause and hope that this timely message will enable customers to plan,” the notice seen by Nigerian Newssphere reads.
