Asisat Oshoala scored the only goal of the encounter in the eighth minute, with her early strike proving enough to hand Justin Madugu’s side all three points.
The Super Falcons, however, were forced to play the remainder of the game with 10 players after a sending-off before half-time but held firm to preserve their slender lead.
The victory leaves Nigeria needing another win against Egypt in their final Group C fixture to secure a place in the quarter-finals.
