Three billion account holders of Meta-owned WhatsApp can choose to use Tinubu or Trump if they like, as the messaging platform introduced the username feature.
The messaging platform said in the coming months account holders will no longer require their phone numbers to connect on the platform but rather choose preferred usernames.
The firm urged users can begin reserving their preferred usernames this week, ahead of the feature’s full rollout later this year.
According to the firm, the feature is expected to safeguard users’ privacy and make it seamless for people to communicate without having to reveal their phone number—by exchanging unique usernames instead.
“Your phone number is personal, and sometimes you want to connect without handing it over. That’s why we’re introducing usernames for WhatsApp,” the company said
