Former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, APC, following his defeat in the party’s recently concluded governorship primary election.
Adamu announced his resignation from the ruling party on Monday, stating that he would pursue his political ambition on another platform ahead of the governorship election.
The former police boss said his decision came after consultations with his supporters and political associates across the state.
“I have decided to resign from the APC and pursue my ambition elsewhere,” Adamu said in a brief statement.
Although he did not immediately disclose the political party he intends to join, sources close to the former IGP said consultations are ongoing with opposition parties.
Adamu had contested in the APC governorship primary but lost amid intense competition among aspirants seeking the party’s ticket.
His resignation is expected to alter the political landscape in the state, with supporters already speculating on his next political move.
