Lionel Messi has become the fastest player in Major League Soccer history to record more than 50 goals and assists, surpassing former Toronto forward Sebastian Giovinco’s record.
The milestone was achieved on Saturday after the Inter Miami CF captain scored once and provided two assists in his side’s 4-2 victory over Toronto FC.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Messi has now registered 59 goals and 41 assists in just 64 MLS appearances.
The goal against Toronto also took the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner’s overall career tally to 907 goals and 410 assists.
Messi joined Inter Miami from Paris Saint-Germain F.C. a few years ago and has continued to impress since arriving in the United States.
The former FC Barcelona captain remains one of the standout performers in the league.
