American rapper Future, born Nayvadius DeMun Cash, has admitted that his greatest regret in life is not loving and treating women better.
The hip-hop star, who has nine children with different women, attributed his struggles in romantic relationships to the absence of a positive male role model during his upbringing.
Speaking during an interview on Hot 97, Future revealed that he never witnessed his mother being genuinely loved by a man while he was growing up.
“My biggest regret in life is that I should have loved harder. I should have found a way to love the right way,” he said.
Reflecting on his childhood, the rapper explained that he grew up without guidance on how to properly treat a woman.
“I came from nothing, and I didn’t have a person or a male role model to show me how to treat a woman. I have never seen someone buy my mom a flower,” he added.
Future noted that his past relationships became his only source of learning about relationship dynamics. However, he stressed that he is not using his upbringing or childhood trauma as an excuse for how he handled some of his former relationships.
According to him, he is now focused on learning from his past mistakes and making better choices moving forward.
