Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman marked his Atlético Madrid debut in style, scoring in a dominant 5-0 victory over Real Betis in Thursday night’s Copa del Rey quarter-final.
Lookman, who only completed his move to the LaLiga giants earlier this week from Atalanta, was handed his first appearance by coach Diego Simeone and made an instant impact.
Atlético opened the scoring through David Hancko before Giuliano Simeone doubled the advantage in the 30th minute. Lookman then got his name on the scoresheet seven minutes later, calmly finishing a swift counterattack to make it 3-0.
The Madrid side continued their relentless display in the second half, with Antoine Griezmann and Thiago Almada adding further goals to complete the rout.
Atlético Madrid and Real Betis are set to meet again on Sunday in a LaLiga clash.
