The naira on Tuesday recorded its second consecutive appreciation against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the local currency strengthened to N1,419.66 per dollar on Tuesday, improving from N1,423.17 exchanged last Friday.
This indicates that the naira has gained N3.51 against the dollar over the past 48 hours at the official market.
At the parallel market, however, the naira remained unchanged, trading at N1,490 per dollar, the same rate recorded on Monday.
The currency’s recent performance comes amid a marginal increase in Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves, which rose to $45.74 billion as of January 12, 2026, from $45.67 billion recorded at the end of last week, according to CBN data.
