A 300-level student of Uthe Universityof Ibadan has reportedly died after allegedly ingesting a substance suspected to be insecticide.
Sources disclosed that the student, whose identity has not been made public, passed away on Sunday. The incident was said to have occurred Sunday night.
According to information gathered, the deceased was found on the ground floor of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall in an unconscious and distressed condition by a fellow student. He was reportedly foaming at the mouth and appeared disoriented at the time he was discovered.
It was further llearnedthat the student allegedly admitted to taking a substance identified as sniper.
He was immediately rushed to the university’s clinic, popularly known as Jaja Clinic, for urgent medical attention. After being sstabilized,he was referred to University College Hospital, Ibadan, where he was placed on life support.
However, sources later confirmed that the student did not survive.
The Public Relations Officer of UCH, Funmi Adetuyibi, confirmed the development to Nigerian Newssphere on Tuesday.
“Yes. It is true. He was brought to the hospital. He is dead”.
