Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obihas dismissed claims that he is planning to formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), clarifying that he has been part of the coalition from the outset.
Speaking during an X Spaces discussion on Sunday night, Obi said there was no need for him to “join” the ADC, stressing that he has always been involved in the coalition’s activities since its formation.
“I am not joining ADC. I can’t rrejoinwhat I am already a part of,” Obi said.
He explained that the coalition was built on collective agreement and cooperation, adding that no individual was stepping down for him within the ADC structure.
Obi also reaffirmed his respect for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing him as a leader he continues to hold in high regard.
“We have all agreed to work together, and Atiku remains my respected leader,” he added.
This comes amid reports that Peter Obi and his followers planned to defect to ADC on Wednesday.
