FIFA has appointed Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić to officiate the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.
Vinčić will oversee Sunday’s title decider at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, assisted by fellow Slovenians Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič. Jordan’s Adham Makhadmeh has been named the fourth official.
The final will be Vinčić’s fourth assignment at the tournament, having previously handled two group-stage matches and one knockout fixture.
The experienced official took charge of Brazil’s group-stage clash against Morocco, as well as the meeting between Jordan and Algeria.
He also officiated the Round of 32 encounter between Mexico and Ecuador, where he sent off Ecuador defender Piero Hincapié under FIFA’s anti-discrimination protocol, popularly referred to as the “Vinícius Law.”
Argentina booked their place in the final after a dramatic comeback victory over England, while Spain secured their spot by defeating France in the other semi-final. The winners will be crowned champions of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
