Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, PDP, Cross River North, has revealed that each senior Senator got N500,000 from the 2024 National Budget.
The Senator’s remark caused Tuesday’s rowdy session at the Red Chambers.
He says no Senator can accuse Senator Abdul Ningi of raising his voice over missing N3 trillion in the 2024 Budget.
“All of us are culpable. Some so-called senior senators here got 500M Naira each from the 2024 budget; I am a ranking senator, but I didn’t get anything. No Senator has a right to accuse Senator Ningi”, he said.
Earlier, a Point of Order was raised by the Senate Committee on Appropriations Chairman, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, against the allegation of Senator Ningi.
Consequently, Senator Ningi was suspended on Tuesday.
DAILY POST recalls Senator Ningi, in an interview with BBC, had the N28.7 trillion 2024 Appropriation Act and that the budget passed by the National Assembly for the 2024 fiscal year is N25 trillion while the one being implemented by the Presidency is N28.7 trillion.
The accusation had divided the lawmakers, being a subject of debate in the past few days.
