Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has urged United States lawmakers to conduct thorough research and verify their facts before advancing a bill targeting former Kano State governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
Sani made the call in a statement posted on his verified X account on Thursday, reacting to reports that US lawmakers had introduced a bill against Fulani militias and Kwankwaso.
According to him, any group that takes up arms to kill or kidnap innocent people, under any guise, deserves to be designated a terrorist organization.
However, Sani stressed that Kwankwaso has never been an extremist, nor has he supported, condoned, or encouraged religious persecution, violence, or discrimination.
“The US lawmakers need to do deeper and broader research to get their facts right. Senator Kwankwaso has never been an extremist,” he said.
He added that Kwankwaso’s conduct while in public office is verifiable, noting also that in some instances, leaders of Miyetti Allah and Kautal Hore have themselves been victims of bandits and terrorists.
Sani cautioned that any bill with political, historical, and global implications should be based on meticulous, intelligent, and comprehensive research.
