Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior has reportedly turned down the club’s latest contract proposal, casting fresh doubt over his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to AS, the Spanish giants offered the Brazilian international a new five-year deal that would keep him at the club until 2031 and earn him an annual salary of €22 million.
The report said the proposal was sent to Vinicius Jr’s representatives about two weeks ago but has now been rejected.
Despite the setback, Real Madrid have not abandoned their efforts to secure the forward’s future. The club is expected to hold a direct meeting with the 26-year-old on Wednesday in a bid to reach an agreement.
The meeting is believed to be crucial and could determine whether Vinicius Jr remains at the club beyond the current season.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian continues to attract strong interest from Arsenal, with the Premier League side reportedly prepared to do everything possible to sign him during the current transfer window.
