1. The House of Representatives has introduced a bill seeking to prohibit public and civil servants from patronising private schools and healthcare facilities. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Amobi Ogah (LP–Abia), was presented for first reading during Tuesday’s plenary session. In his lead debate, Ogah described the proposed legislation as a turning point in Nigeria’s history.

2. The political landscape in Osun State became charged on Tuesday as Governor Ademola Adeleke, alongside former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and key leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, openly declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. The governor also confirmed his resolve to remain in the PDP, shelving speculations of his defection to the All Progressives Congress.

3. The suspended senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has vowed to drag the leadership of the Senate before the appellate court after she was barred from accessing the National Assembly complex on Tuesday. A fuming Akpoti-Uduaghan told journalists that she would consult her legal team immediately to kick-start the process, stressing that it was a violation of the recent judgment calling for her reinstatement.

The wife of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Judith Amaechi, has denied allegations that she received N4bn monthly from the Niger Delta Development Commission as alleged by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. In a statement on Tuesday, July 22, Mrs Amaechi challenged Wike to make public his version of the forensic audit report on the NDDC.
