1. The President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has asked President Bola Tinubu to include refined petroleum products in the list of items banned under the ‘Nigeria First’ policy of the Federal Government. But this was unanimously rejected by oil marketers and some industry analysts on Sunday.
2. The Yobe University Academic Staff Union of Universities has said it has not called off the strike it embarked upon on July 11. The state varsity ASUU Chairman, Dr Ahmed Karage, made this known in a statement in Damaturu on Monday.
3. The abductors of the six Nigerian Law School students have reportedly demanded a ransom of N20m for each victim. The students were reportedly kidnapped in Benue State by suspected gunmen while travelling from Onitsha, Anambra State, to the Yola campus of the Nigerian Law School in Adamawa State on Saturday.
4. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has disclosed that its operatives arrested a Chinese national, Liang Tak You, with 50 parcels of Loud upon his arrival at the Muritala Muhammed Airport, Lagos State. The agency, in a statement on Sunday by its Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, noted that Liang was arrested on Friday after arriving in Nigeria from Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
5. Coalition-backed African Democratic Congress ADC, on Saturday reiterated its determination to send the President Bola Tinubu administration packing, saying it will match the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, tactic for tactic in the 2027 general election. ADC said the fact that it does not have serving governors in its fold does it detract from its formidability as a viable platform to sack the Tinubu administration.
