PAPU Towel Launch: NIPOST unveils N255 commemorative stamp

The Nigerian Postal Service has unveiled an N255 commemorating stamp to mark the Pan African Postal Union Tower launch in Arusha, Tanzania.

Postmaster General (PMG) of the federation and CEO of the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST, Sunday Adepopu, disclosed this during the unveiling ceremony on Saturday in Abuja.

Adepopu, represented by NIPOST Director of Planning and Development, Dr Thomas Gaja, explained that globally, postage stamps are regarded as one of the most effective means to supply information about a country’s history.

“This Initiative was embarked upon to support the Pan African Postal Union, PAPU with funds to complete its 17-storey Tower project and also Philately stamps to earn revenue for the Organization.

“NIPOST, in conjunction with all PAPU member states, today(Saturday), will release a single Postage Stamp in (N250) denomination to mark the commissioning of the PAPU Tower, Arusha, Tanzania. The stamp has a surcharge of value N5”, he stated.

Funmilayo Esiri, NIPOST General Manager Philately, said the stamp is expected to last for Six Months.

“The Nigerian Version of the Stamp depicts the PAPU Tower in Arusha, juxtaposed with the Zuma Rock, a popular National monument site in Nigeria”.
