Nigeria’s Super Eagles kept their slim hopes of qualify for next year World Cup alive, after beating Rwanda 1-0 on Saturday evening.
Eric Chelle’s side came into the game sitting in fourth position with seven points, nine behind leaders South Africa in the group.
Victor Osimhen opened the scoring in the first half, but his goal was ruled out for offside.
However, in the second half, Tolu Arokorade scored to give Nigeria all three points against Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
The outcome of the game means the Super Eagles are now in third position, behind South Africa and Benin Republic.
Nigeria will now face Rwanda next on Tuesday evening.
