Arsenal stretched their lead at the top of the English Premier League table to 10 points after securing a 2–0 victory over Everton on Saturday.
The Gunners needed late goals at the Emirates Stadium to claim the crucial three points in a game that looked set to end in a stalemate for much of the encounter.
Mikel Arteta’s side struggled to break down a resilient Everton defense, with the visitors holding firm for most of the match.
However, the game took a decisive turn following the introduction of 16-year-old Max Dowman.
Dowman delivered a cross that caused confusion in Everton’s penalty area, leaving Viktor Gyokeres with the easiest of finishes as he tapped the ball into an empty net to give Arsenal the lead.
The teenager later capped his impressive cameo by sprinting the length of the pitch to score on the counterattack and seal the victory.
The win takes Arsenal to the 70-point mark and opens up a 10-point advantage over Manchester City at the top of the league standings.
