Manchester City have reportedly lined up Enzo Maresca as their preferred replacement for Pep Guardiola amid growing uncertainty ove2r the manager’s future at the club.
Guardiola’s position at the Etihad Stadium has been the subject of intense speculation, with reports suggesting the Spaniard could step down at the end of the season.
While City are yet to receive a final decision from the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss, the club is understood to have already identified Maresca as the leading candidate to take over if he departs.
The development was disclosed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a post on X on Thursday.
“Manchester City will let Pep Guardiola decide what he wants to do with his future,” Romano wrote.
“As reported since January, Enzo Maresca is the favorite candidate if/when Pep decides to leave.
“Despite reports on Kompany, #MCFC really appreciates Maresca.”
