Former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai is scheduled to appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026.
The development follows an incident last Thursday when security operatives allegedly attempted to arrest him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, shortly after he arrived from Cairo, Egypt, aboard Egypt Air flight MS 877.
El-Rufai’s lawyer, Ubong Esop Akpan, disclosed that the EFCC invitation was delivered to his client’s residence in December 2025 while he was outside the country for medical treatment and rest.
According to the lawyer, El-Rufai’s legal team has remained in contact with the anti-graft agency and assured authorities of his readiness to honor the invitation upon his return to Nigeria.
Nigerian Newssphere reports that El-Rufai had earlier raised an alarm over an alleged attempt to arrest him on Thursday.
