Nigeria’s ex-president Muhammadu Buhari and Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, are two prominent Nigerians that died on Sunday, 13 July 2025.
Buhari’s death at a London clinic was announced on Sunday by spokespersons to the former president, Garba Shehu and Bashir Ahmed.
While tributes were in for Buhari’s demise, the south-west monarch, Adetona’s death, was announced.
The monarch died at 91, while Buhari was 82 years old.

Nigerian Newssphere reports that both deceased are longtimefriends.
Buhari is expected to be buried on Monday, but Adetona’s funeral death has not been announced.

Many Nigerian elites, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and others, all penned down their tributes to Buhari on Sunday.
Buhari was Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023; Tinubu succeeded him.
