Michael Oyedokun, one of the teachers abducted from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle, in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has reportedly been killed by his captors.
Recalls that armed men stormed the school on Friday, May 15, abducting the principal, several teachers, and some students.
The incident, which came weeks after a failed kidnapping attempt along the Ibadan-Ijebu Road that claimed the life of a traveler, has further heightened fears over worsening insecurity in parts of Oyo State and across the country.
A video released by the kidnappers on Sunday, May 17, 2026, reportedly showed Oyedokun being killed by the gunmen.
The development has sparked fresh anxiety over the safety of the remaining victims still being held captive.
Residents of the community, families of the abducted victims, and concerned indigenes have since been thrown into mourning, while calls continue to mount on security agencies and the Oyo State Government to intensify rescue efforts and secure the release of those still in captivity.
