The pontiff of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has died.
His death was confirmed by Vatican News on Monday.
The pope died after addressing Catholics on Easter Sunday.
He died at age 88 in his residence in Vatican’s Casa Santa.
“Pope Francis died on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican’s Casa Santa,” Vatican News wrote on their X account.
Recall that Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, on Sunday met with Pope Francis.
The late Pope, in his Easter message, called for worldwide peace.
Before his death, Pope Francis had been battling with illness.
