The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Tuesday cleared former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to participate in the party’s presidential primary after granting him a waiver.
The PDP screening committee, which sat in Akwa Ibom State and was chaired by Chief Eddy Olafeso, confirmed the development.
According to Olafeso, the party had officially approved Jonathan’s participation in the race.
“The party has already granted our presidential aspirant a waiver and cleared him as a candidate for the PDP presidential election, and that is former President Jonathan,” he said.
Nigerian Newssphere recalls that a faction of the PDP backed by Seyi Makinde had earlier announced that Jonathan would undergo screening as the party’s presidential aspirant on Tuesday.
