Opposition political parties in Nigeria have agreed to present a unified presidential candidate to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 2027 general election.
The decision was reached on Saturday during a national summit of opposition party leaders held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Prominent political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, attended the meeting alongside other key stakeholders.
Members of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde were also present at the summit.
Although the leaders agreed on the need for a single candidate, a consensus has yet to be reached on who will emerge as the flag bearer.
Among those being considered as potential contenders are Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Rotimi Amaechi.
