Nigeria has recorded two additional cases of Bundibugyo Ebola virus disease, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to three.
The Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), Dr Olajide Idris, disclosed this during a briefing in Abuja on Sunday.
With the latest development, Nigeria now has three confirmed Ebola cases following the detection of the first imported case on October 20, 2026.
Recall that the initial case was linked to a Ugandan national who arrived in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
However, controversy has surrounded the origin of the latest cases, with reports linking the strain to Kenya, while Uganda has disputed the alleged connection. The circumstances surrounding the cases remain under investigation.
