Poland striker Robert Lewandowski has broken Cristiano Ronaldo’s record as the oldest player to score a hat-trick in the UEFA Nations League.
Lewandowski achieved the feat on Friday as Poland thrashed Romania 6-0 in Warsaw.
The 38-year-old scored in the 24th, 47th and 86th minutes to complete his hat-trick and help Poland secure a convincing victory.
The performance also marked Lewandowski’s record-extending 170th appearance for the Polish national team, while taking his international goal tally to 92.
Before Lewandowski’s feat, Ronaldo held the record after scoring a hat-trick for Portugal against Switzerland in the 2019 Nations League semi-final.
Ronaldo was 34 years and 120 days old when he scored his three goals against Switzerland.
Lewandowski, meanwhile, was 38 years and 42 days old when he completed his hat-trick against Romania, surpassing the Portuguese superstar’s record by nearly four years.
