The Nigerian naira recorded a slight appreciation against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Monday.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, showed that the naira closed at N1,362.84 per dollar on Monday, compared to N1,363.48/$1 recorded on Friday.
The latest exchange rate represents a marginal gain of N0.64 for the local currency against the dollar on a day-to-day basis.
At the parallel market, however, the naira remained unchanged, trading at N1,395 per dollar, the same rate recorded at the close of trading last week.
The development comes amid a further increase in Nigeria’s foreign reserves, which rose to $50.12 billion as of June 5, 2026, according to figures released by the apex bank.
The naira had depreciated against the dollar on both Thursday and Friday at the official foreign exchange market before returning to appreciation at the start of the new week.
