Eid al-Adha: US Embassy shut offices in Nigeria

The United States Mission in Nigeria has announced that the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday in observance of the Eid al-Adha celebration.

The announcement was contained in a statement shared on the mission’s official X account on Wednesday.

The U.S. mission also felicitated with Muslims marking the Islamic festival, praying for peace, happiness, and good health during the celebration.

“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, in observance of the Eid al-Adha holidays,” the statement read.

“From all of us at the U.S. Mission Nigeria, #EidMubarak. May your time during this holiday and throughout the year be filled with peace, happiness, and good health.”

The closure comes as the federal government also declared the same days as public holidays for the Eid al-Adha celebration.
