Antoine Semenyo came through for Manchester City as the club completed a domestic double after edging Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
The victory also ended a run of consecutive Wembley disappointments for Pep Guardiola’s side, who had suffered defeats in the last two finals against Manchester United and Crystal Palace.
Both teams struggled to create clear-cut opportunities in a cagey first half, which finished without a goal.
The breakthrough eventually arrived after the restart when Antoine Semenyo capped off a brilliant flowing move to score the decisive goal for City.
The triumph means City adds the FA Cup to the Carabao Cup title they won in March after beating Arsenal 2-0 in the final.
Despite the cup success, Guardiola’s men remain two points behind Arsenal in the Premier League title race with two matches left to play.
