Controversial Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi has urged Nigeria to learn from what he described as the “failures” of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Gumi’s reaction followed the killing of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, said to be the second in command of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria globally, during a joint operation involving United States and Nigerian forces.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, the cleric shared a cryptic message shortly after US President Donald Trump announced the operation.
“The truth cannot be hidden from all,” Gumi wrote.
Quoting a Hadith, he added, “God gives through leniency success that cannot be achieved through violence.”
He further stated: “I hope Nigeria takes a leaf out of Netanyahu’s book of failures.”
Nigerian Newssphere had earlier reported that Trump disclosed that American troops, working alongside the Nigerian Armed Forces, carried out a coordinated military operation that resulted in the death of al-Minuki in Africa.
According to the US president, the mission followed extensive intelligence gathering and strategic coordination aimed at tracking the ISIS leader’s activities across the continent.
