Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has congratulated Victor Osimhen for helping Galatasaray S.K. win the Turkish Süper Lig title.
Osimhen scored twice in the decisive victory that sealed the championship for Galatasaray, drawing praise from Obi, who described the striker as a proud ambassador of Nigeria on the global stage.
In a post shared on his verified X handle on Monday, Obi said Osimhen’s achievements and conduct continue to bring honor to the country while inspiring millions of young Nigerians.
“Your resilience, discipline, and talent continue to inspire millions of young Nigerians to believe in the power of hard work, dedication, and excellence.
“You have remained a proud ambassador of Nigeria on the global stage, bringing honor to our nation through your achievements and conduct. Nigerians are immensely proud of you and your continued success,” Obi wrote.
The former Anambra State governor also stressed the importance of sports development, lamenting what he described as the neglect of the sector in Nigeria despite its huge potential for youth empowerment and national growth.
“I have often spoken about the transformative power of sports and the immense opportunities it offers to young people. This is why the persistent neglect of the sector in our country is deeply regrettable.
“I reiterate that a new Nigeria, where all sectors develop simultaneously for the balanced growth and health of the nation, is possible,” he added.
