BREAKING: Court bars Journalists from alleged coup plotters’ bail hearing

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday barred journalists from covering the bail proceedings of six individuals accused of plotting a coup against the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Courtroom reporters were asked to leave shortly before the presiding judge, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, commenced proceedings, with security operatives said to be enforcing the directive.

Journalists present complied and exited the courtroom.

The development comes amid growing public attention surrounding the case involving the six defendants, who were arraigned last Wednesday by the federal government over an alleged failed coup.

The accused persons include retired Major General Mohammed Ibrahim Gana; retired Navy Captain Erasmus Victor; Police Inspector Ahmed Ibrahim; Presidential Villa electrician Zekeri Umoru; as well as Bukar Goni and Abdulkadir Sani, an Islamic cleric based in Zaria.
